FUTURE PHYSICIAN PATHWAYS TUITION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

OVERVIEW

The Future Physician Pathways Tuition Scholarship Program (FPP Scholarship Program) is designed to expand access to medical school education for a diverse group of talented students, as early as the 4th grade, including students traditionally underrepresented in medicine, and those that come from families with limited financial resources.
The FPP Scholarship Program is exclusive to schools that the MPP Academy has partnered with for this great opportunity. The FPP Scholarship award is open to “ALL” students school-wide that meet the scholarship selection criteria.

Designated staff at our partner schools nominate and select students school-wide who meet the criteria outlined below to receive the FPP full-tuition scholarship to attend the MPP Academy for 2023.

Scholarship Selection Criteria

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Target Audience:
    • We are accepting applications from high achieving U.S. and International students who are currently enrolled as a 4th – 12th grade student.
  • Academic Criteria:
    • High achievement in math and/or sciences.
    • GPA of at least a 3.00 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale) in academic courses completed within the last 12 months of submitting an admissions application.
  • Personal Commitment: Important factors in selecting students for the scholarship include the following:
    • Takes ownership of future college and career goals.
    • Committed to strengthening academic and mental preparation for college and/or medical school.
  • Career Interest Criteria:
    • An interest to explore or pursue a career in the field of medicine, healthcare, and/or science.

Scholarship Guidelines

  • FPP Scholarship award does not guarantee admission to the MPP Academy.
    • Students that are awarded the FPP scholarship and have been admitted to the MPP Academy will start the program in the next available cohort. MPP enrolls students that meet our admissions requirements on a first come, first serve basis. If no seats are available in the program, students will be waitlisted for the next available cohort.
  • FPP Scholarship is valid for one year from the date received (Expiration date will be posted in your scholarship award letter.), and it is not transferable.
  • FPP Scholarship may be renewed annually through completing our Tuition Assistance Application.
    If your school has students that are interested in receiving a FPP scholarship, but were not selected for the FPP Scholarship, they can apply to be considered for a full or partial scholarship by applying directly to the MPP Tuition Assistance Program.
  • FPP Scholarship cannot be combined with the MPP Tuition Assistance Scholarship.

FPP Scholarship covers only the full tuition cost of the MPP Academy, which includes the following:

    • Academic instruction and materials
    • Class activities
    • Chartered, air-conditioned motor coaches for off-campus academic and career exploration experiences
    • Customized curriculum + take-home project
    • Certificate of Participation
    • Official Transcript for all classes completed
    • New friends and skills that last long after summer
    • Industry Certifications: Students earn HIPAA, First Aid, CPR, AED, & BLS certification
    • Supervision & Care: Student safety, security, and health are our first priority

FPP Scholarship does not cover the following:

  • Application for Admission/Enrollment Fee: $0 (waived for all applicants)
    • Summer Intensive Program
      • Summer Intensive Student Registration Fee:
        • 1 week program: $400 | 2 week program: $600 | 3 week program: $800
      • Summer Intensive Student Activity Fee:
        • 1 week program: $260 | 2 week program: $520 | 3 week program: $780
      • The student activity fee covers on-and-off campus social and recreational activities during the summer intensive program. Student activity fee will be waived for those families that do not want their student to participate in social and recreational activities.
      • University Housing & Meal Plan Fee: Total cost of housing and meals varies by university campus (estimated range: $80 – $120 per day). The housing and 3 meals per day fee applies to students enrolled as a residential student in the summer intensive program (Residential student is a student that choose to live on campus during the program). Contact the MPP Office of Admissions for more information.
        • Campus Meal plan fee is optional for commuter students. Commuters can bring their own lunch including snacks to the program daily or purchase a meal plan.

      Academic Year Program

      • Technology Fee: $150 per year (applies to Academic Year Program students)
      • Academic Year Program Student Registration Fee: $750

Note: The MPP Academy reserves the right to change fees, modify services or change its programs at any time and without prior notice.

  • Cost of daily travel to and from the program.
  • Airport pick-up service/transportation to and from campus.
  • Personal spending money.
  • Health Insurance: All students must provide proof of existing medical insurance to be exempt from the university-sponsored health insurance program. Students will not be able to participate in the program without a valid and current copy of medical insurance coverage.
  • U.S. Visa: Students are responsible for obtaining a U.S. visit visa in time to attend MPP. Once your U.S. visit/tourist visa has been issued or if you already hold a U.S. visa, send a copy of your U.S. VISA to the Office of Admissions: admissions@mppacademy.org.
  • International Travel Medical Insurance:
    • All international students are required to hold a valid and current international medical insurance card before traveling. Please visit this site (http://www.usa-assist. com/en/travel-insurance-quote.asp), which offers different travel medical insurance plans based on the amount of medical coverage purchased (additional cost). Students will not be able to participate in the program without a valid and current copy of international medical insurance coverage. Send a copy of your international travel medical insurance to the Office of Admissions: admissions@mppacademy.org.

Each year, hundreds of educators like you nominate students who have demonstrated high achievement in math and science and a strong interest in exploring or pursuing a career in the field of medicine, healthcare, and/or science.

We accept nominations for current 4th-12th grade students that meet the following scholarship award selection criteria:

Fundraise with Team FPP?

Team FPP is a community of individuals actively fundraising in support of the Future Physician Pathways Grant Program. Whether developing an independent campaign or joining an event organized by Team FPP, team members are united in the shared goal of building awareness about the Future Physician Pathways Tuition Scholarship (FPP Scholarship) while raising funds so that more students can benefit from a FPP scholarship.

Dear School Leader:

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the MPP Academy’s Future Physician Pathways Tuition Scholarship Program for your students! The MPP Academy is an “early outreach Pre-Med & Medical School Readiness Program” that is committed to building a diverse Pathways of future medical doctors and scientists, as early as 4th grade, to the physician workforce that is more representative of the U.S. population.

Your school has been selected to receive a limited number of full-tuition scholarships to a select group of your students that have an interest in exploring the field of medicine and healthcare via the MPP Academy. We selected your school because of your rich history, strong academic performance and commitment to academic excellence.

Your school will receive an allocated number of scholarships approved by the MPP Academy Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Community Partnerships. Your school will be responsible for selecting and distributing the scholarships to your students that have an interest in exploring different career paths or pursuing a career in the field of medicine and health care via the MPP Academy.

The students selected for the scholarship must meet the following scholarship award requirements:

Suggested Methods to Select Students for the FPP Scholarship

Your school could select students for the FPP Scholarship by any of the following methods:

  1. Create your own selection process.
  2. Send an E-Blast with the MPP scholarship guidelines and presentation materials to all students for them to individually express interest (See “Interested in Exploring a Career as a Medical Doctor?… E-Blast sample).
  3. Send an E-Blast with the MPP scholarship guidelines and presentation materials to all teachers to nominate students (See “Now’s Your Chance to Recommend a Student Who May Be Interested in Becoming a Doctor for A MPP Academy Scholarship!” E-Blast sample).
  4. Share the MPP scholarship guidelines and presentation materials during a certificated staff meeting for teachers to help nominate students  (Here is the link to a presentation you could show at an all school staff meeting: FPP Scholarship Program Overview Video).

 

Scholarship Nomination

Once your school selects your list of students for the scholarship, please complete the Scholarship Nomination Form.

 

Distribution of Scholarships to Your Students

Scholarships will be distributed in the form of a scholarship certificate for each student that your school selects to receive the Future Physician Pathways Full-Tuition Scholarship. Your students will use the scholarship to enroll in the MPP Academy.
