A FREE MEDICAL PHYSICIAN CAREER EXPLORATION EVENT

The ‘So You Want to be a Medical Doctor?’ Virtual Student Conference is a free, international early outreach medical physician pipeline program offered monthly throughout the year (Fall, Winter, Spring, & Summer) via Zoom. The program is facilitated by medical school students, practicing medical physicians and scientists, and medical school faculty and leaders. Participants are not required to attend each month and registrants will be able to indicate which conference dates they would like to attend.

Event Purpose:

The initiative was established to support the goal of the MPP Academy: To attract thousands of students across the globe, from diverse backgrounds, to increase their interest in pursuing a career as a medical doctor.

We are committed to building a diverse pipeline of future medical doctors, as early as 4th grade, that is more representative of the U.S. population.

Eligibility:

The program targets elementary (4th – 6th) and secondary students (7th -12th), from all communities across the United States and globally, who might not have considered a career as a medical physician or are interested in pursuing a career in medicine or healthcare.

Program Structure:

During the school year, the virtual student conference will be delivered from September – May as a school-wide event to elementary and secondary schools and their students across the globe.

During the summer, the virtual student conference will be delivered in June, July, and August directly to students, families, and summer camps across the globe.

Each semester (Fall, Spring, & Summer), we will focus on a different system of the body. Moreover, students will explore different types of doctors, the branch of medical practice they focus on and how these specialities are connected to the systems of the human body.

This seminar will be divided into two cohorts: elementary (4th-6th grade) and secondary (7th-12th grade).
