MPP Academy students will be prepared to become a competitive medical school applicant, with the mindset, tools, and resources to thrive in medical school and beyond. This component of the curriculum provides a comprehensive textbook (written exclusively for MPP Academy participants) to empower students with the tools and resources to explore the career as a medical physician in-depth.  Students also develop a personal strategic action plan, which is a roadmap that will help students to clearly outline a path to achieve their future career goal of becoming a medical physician.

4. Academic Skills Development & Writing for College and Career Success

This component of the curriculum focuses on providing students with the academic preparation necessary to ensure they are prepared to succeed in college-level pre-med coursework and in all aspects of university learning.  Students will develop a more strategic approach to reading, college-level writing, note-taking, and researching topics for an academic paper in a quicker, more effective, way. Some of the seminar topics include overcoming procrastination, time management, memory and concentration, note-taking, textbook reading, and exam preparation. Please note that these seminars are not intended as remedial skills instruction.

Medical Physician Preparation (MPP) Academy

MPP Academy offers UC/CSU A-G Approved Courses

The MPP Academy works in partnership with the University of California Student Academic Preparation and Educational Partnerships (UC SAPEP) program and UC SCOUT to offer UC/CSU a-g approved courses to MPP Academy students.

MPP Academy students earn academic course credit through UC SCOUT to satisfy the UC/CSU A-G subject requirements that fulfills college admission requirements at institutions such as the University of California, California State University admission, and o requirements!

Courses are taught by teachers with a California teaching credential from the California Commission for Teaching Credentialing (CCTC).

  • Our Elective courses and SIGs represent some of the 135 medical specialties and subspecialties that you can pursue in medicine and healthcare.
  • Don’t see your medical specialty interest offered, MPP students are encouraged to create their own Medical Specialty Interest Group with the support of a MPP faculty member serving as a Faculty Advisor.
  • We offer Medical Specialty Elective courses and Special Interest Groups (SIGs) at MPP to help our students explore a variety of medical specialties in medicine and to help them choose their top 5 medical specialties or a specific career in the field of medicine/healthcare that matches their core values, skills, and interests.
